Newton Public Schools Partnering With Helpsy To Collect Used Clothes
Beginning November 1, textiles in Massachusetts can no longer be disposed of in the trash or recycling.

NEWTON, MA — Newton Public Schools (NPS) is partnering with Helpsy, a textile recycling company, to collect unwanted clothing, shoes, and linens.
Beginning November 1, textiles in Massachusetts can no longer be disposed of in the trash or recycling. The district recently placed clothing bins in front of the tennis courts on Brandeis Road to make donating more convenient.
Textiles and shoes that can be reused or recycled account for approximately 5 percent of waste in Massachusetts. Helpsy takes all clean textiles and items that are on their list and will reuse higher grade items. Nationally, 50 percent is reusable and 45 percent is recyclable.
