Newton residents gathered at the 9-11 Memorial Wednesday evening outside Newton Fire Headquarters to remember those who died on Sept.11, 2001, including 8 with ties to the city.
Mayor Setti Warren gave the keynote address, and more than a dozen people read through a timeline of the tragic day. The names of those from Newton were read, some by relatives.
The commemoration was the first at the Newton 9-11 Memorial, which was completed in November 2012.
