Newton’s First-Ever Bakery Crawl Kicks Off on Sept. 30
On Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, local bakeries will be dishing out samples, cooking up specials, and offering discounts to the Newton community.
NEWTON, MA — To celebrate National Bakery Day on Sept. 30, Newton’s independent bakeries are taking part in a Bakery Crawl, where they’ll be dishing out samples, cooking up specials, and offering discounts to the Newton community.
Lovers of baked goods can map out their routes, explore, and sample diverse baked items produced by Newton’s talented chefs while supporting some of the city’s smallest eateries.
According to the event organizer ALL Over Newton, the city is in the midst of a bakery renaissance. Since the early days of the pandemic, the number of bakeries in Newton has doubled, with a whopping 15 of them now sprinkled throughout Newton’s villages.

“It’s a fun fall activity for families and fans of independent bakeries,” Lauren Berman of ALL Over Newton said in a statement. “You can map out a bike route, stop at a bakery between soccer games or errands, try something new, or stock up on favorites. And you can feel great knowing that every dollar you spend helps a brick and mortar business stay put.”
The Newton Bakery Crawl is free for participants. This two-day long, do it yourself event is on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.
