Newton Will Take on the State's Best Little League Teams

Newton Little Leaguers will play the state’s best in the State Finals after winning the sectional title over the weekend.

The Newton South East team defeated Medford 16-1 on Friday night to reach the Section 3 Tournament final.

Once there, they outlasted Walpole by a score of 7-6 in extra innings on Saturday. Newton won in the seventh, and games normally go six innings.

Newton’s ball players will play in the Little League state finals at the Cammarata Complex in West Roxbury. They will play a round robin with the three other finalists – Peabody West, Holden and Hanover.

The first game is Thursday. The two teams with the top records will face off in the final on Sunday. The winner of the state tournament represents Massachusetts in the New England Region Tournament.
