Newton's Annual St. Patrick's Day Breakfast Roast, Canceled
In an effort to mitigate the spread of coronavirus, gatherings such as the annual St. Patrick's Day roast have been canceled in Newton.

NEWTON, MA — The fourth annual St. Patrick's breakfast in Newton, a political roast that has become a tradition at Dunn Gaherins has been canceled according to organizers in an effort to mitigate the spread of coronavirus.
Each year amid coffee, tea and Irish bread, local politicians, including senators, representatives and the mayor, gather to take the mic to roast each other.
Dunn Ghaerins owner Seana Gaherin and Jerry Reilly along with Chamber President Greg Reibman and Newton City Councilor Josh Krintzman host and mc the event.

Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that include the common cold as well as much more serious diseases. The strain that emerged in China in late 2019, now called COVID-19, is related to others that have caused serious outbreaks in recent years, including severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS).
