Police Log: A Stolen Car, Smashed Windshield and an Angry Drunk

Police also responded to an assault incident at Newton North High School.

A car left running outside Precision Auto was allegedly stolen Saturday after a customer brought it in for service, police said.

According to reports, the owner of the Watertown Street shop told police the customer had left the car running outside while he waited. The shop owner also told officers that while he was shifting cars around the lot he noticed a suspicious white male hanging out in front of the shop, but did not approach him because he was busy. 

Reports said the shop owner told police he saw the vehicle in question traveling westbound on Watertown Street and assumed the customer had left with his car, however, the customer was still in the shop.

Woman Says Someone Smashed Windshield...With Pottery

According to police reports, a woman came into the police station Saturday afternoon to report that her Ford Mustang had been vanalized sometime Friday evening.

After parking her car at the corner of Adams Street and Murphy Court at 5 p.m., the woman alleges someone smashed her windshield with a ceramic vase. She found the damaged car when she reuturned around 9 p.m., reports said.

Drunk Man Assaults Liquor Store Clerk

A 31-year-old Newton man will appear in court after he allegedly spit in the face of a clerk at .

According to reports, the man assaulted the clerk sometime Sunday and then fled on foot. Police later found the man, who appeared intoxicated, walking down Saco Street. Police will seek complaints for assault and battery as well as making threats, rerpots said.
