Marathon experience: This will be number 13. My favorites include Paris, San Francisco, Big Sur (Calif.), New York City, Mad River Marathon (Vt.), and Boston in 2007 for the JDRF (formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), UK and 2012 for the JDRF New England Chapter.

Reason for running: A very good friend of ours, Jack Beggans, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2010 at age 5. I am running to play a small part in supporting the research required to help find a cure. My motivation has unquestionably grown beyond just Jack’s story since my experience running for JDRF last year, which provided me the opportunity to hear the stories of so many others affected by type 1 diabetes.

Training tip: Don't overdo it.

Qualified runner or charity bib?: Charity bib for JDRF

Bib number: 21807
