Traffic Lights Regain Power After Manhole Explosion In Newton: Police

NEWTON, MA – Power to traffic lights has been restored in the Newton Highlands area, Newton police said over Twitter.

The utility company Eversource continues to work on scene at Walnut Street, according to police.

Newton had previously been experiencing widespread power outages due to a manhole explosion, the Newton Police Department said over Twitter.

The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the area of Walnut Street and Lakewood Streets in Newton Highlands, police said.
