Man Charged With Breaking Into Staples, Stealing Laptops

A shocking discovery at Staples led to a foot chase and larceny arrest Tuesday.
An employee of that store called North Andover Police just before 5 p.m. Tuesday and reported that she found a man in the store's back room near a bin. The man, later identified as Rodney Black, 46, of Boston, ran out of the store and fled toward the intersection of Waverly Road and Route 114.
An officer who happened to be patrolling that area spotted Black running toward the North Andover Mall and apprehended him.

Police said Black was carrying a backpack and that inside it were two laptops stolen from Staples, valued at $1,200.
Black was charged with felong breaking and entering in the daytime as well as larceny.

It's been a busy week for police. On Monday night, police were called to Stop & Shop with a report of shoplifters who fled the store with carriages full of merchandise.
The alleged shoplifters fled in a car on Route 114 and were apprehended by Middleton Police.
Robert O'Neil, 28, of 7 College Lane, Methuen, and Patrick Denuccio, 30, of 19 Canton St., Lawrence, were both charged with larceny.
And on Saturday night, an accused shoplifter at CVS allegedly assaulted a police officer while resisting arrest.
