Here are some of the Historical Society's September highlights:
- First Saturdays at the Parson Barnard House: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday. Residents are invited to drop by the iconic home during the three-hour time window. The event is free, though attendees are asked to consider a donation or to make a purchase in the traveling bookshop to help support the Society's programs.
- North Andover Witchcraft History Tour: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 10. The Salem Witchcraft Trials of 1692 were named after the location of the court. But Andover actually had 45 people accused of witchcraft, which was more than any other community.
This event is arranged by Salem Historical Tours and will feature Richard Hite, a witchcraft trials expert, and Carol Majahad, who recently retired from the North Andover Historical Society, who will lead a tour of North Andover locations that were involved in the witchcraft trials.
