Storm May Not Bring Much Snow, But...

That big snowstorm headed toward the east coast has arrived, and although it's mostly a mid-Atlantic storm, New England will feel its impact as well.

The storm is expected to be very slow-moving, lingering all day today and into tomorrow morning. The snow will be heavy and wet, so if you're going to shovel it, you may want to do so gradually throughout the storm.

But the projected snow totals have dropped a little since yesterday. There will be periods of rain diminishing the snow. North Andover can expect to see three-to-six inches of snow accumulation, according to WHDH.

Slippery roads and flooding will be of bigger concern than snow accumulation. And then there's the wind. This storm is expected to bring wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour.

And that could mean power outages. National Grid has reportedly set up more than 200 line crews and another 190 tree crews for power restoration efforts, in case power outages are widespread.

"Despite the fact that spring is just over two weeks away, National Grid is ready for winter's final throes," Kathy Lyford, vice president, New England Operations for National Grid, said in a statement Wednesday. "Once again, our employees are prepared to respond to the challenges we could face in the days ahead."

On the bright side, you don't have to worry about the snow staying on the ground for very long. By the end of the weekend -- and for a few days after the weekend -- temperatures will likely be above 50 degrees.
