Donate Blood, Save Lives

The MGH Bloodmobile is coming to town on Tues., April 1, 10AM- 3:30PM at the Northborough Library (34 Main St.) parking lot (Patty Ln.).

Join us for a life-saving opportunity! The Northborough Health and Human Services Department and Northborough Free Library are partnering to host the MGH Bloodmobile on Tuesday, April 1 from 10AM - 3:30PM. The bloodmobile will conveniently be located in the library parking lot accessible via Patty Lane. All donors will receive a special MGH T-shirt as a thank-you for their generous donation.

Please register in advance for your donation time. This will help manage the flow and make your experience as smooth as possible.

  • Every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood.
  • Massachusetts General Hospital’s blood bank serves patients requiring surgeries, cancer treatments, trauma care, and more. Your donation helps ensure that these critical needs are met.
  • Blood can only be given from one person to another – there is no other source!
  • Less than 5% of the eligible population donates. However, more than 90% of the population will need blood in their lifetime.

DONOR ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES

  1. Donors must be in good health and feel well the day of the donation.
  2. Donors must be at least 17 years of age, or 16 with parental consent (PDF: 16-year-old parental consent form)
  3. Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds and no more than 350 pounds
  4. Donors must show a photo ID

If you schedule an appointment, the entire process will take about 30-40 minutes (for whole blood donations). The actual blood draw takes about five to seven minutes.
