The Town of Northborough Scholarship Committee awarded a total of $7,750 in 2025 scholarship funds to ten graduating high school seniors. The recipients were Greg Alberti, Karma Bebawy, Ryan Cavanaugh, Sophia Garris, Tyler Herrod, Yuhi Kashii, Annaleese Paschall, Isabelle Recchia, Nicole Sarmiento, and Alexis Turgeon. They were chosen based on their community service and employment experiences, school and extra-curricular activities, financial need, academic standing, and an essay response.

Turgeon was named the recipient of the tribute scholarship made possible by the generous donation of long-time Northborough residents Nisha and Chandra Vora. Their donation was earmarked for a student majoring in business or science/healthcare. Chandra is also a member of the Scholarship Committee.

Committee Chair Liz Nolan said the Scholarship Fund depends entirely on community donations, with no support from the town budget. Each year, the number and amount of scholarships awarded is based on available funds.

“We’re always exploring new ways to raise funds, improve the process, and increase awareness,” Nolan said. “This year’s online holiday auction was a great success, and we appreciate everyone who participated.”

She also credited the popular Algonquin graduation yard sign sale—made possible by HB Printing—and a sneaker drive with GotSneakers and community partners PR Running and Hotworx for helping boost fundraising efforts.

How can you donate to the Scholarship Fund?

The Town of Northborough Scholarship Committee now offers a meaningful way to celebrate or remember someone special. Tribute donations can be made in honor or in memory of a loved one, a favorite teacher or coach, or even a graduating class. Alumni and parents of alumni are especially encouraged to give in recognition of their Northborough roots.

Other ways to donate include online, by mail (Scholarship Committee, Northborough Town Hall, 63 Main Street, Northborough MA 01532), or by adding an additional amount to the tax bill by checking off the box dedicated to the Fund.

“Thank you to all who support our efforts to help students continue their education,” said Nolan. “Our committee members are very hard-working. Each year, we hope to grow the fund and be able to increase the awards. We are proud that since 2022, we have awarded $17,850 in scholarships.”
