Police: Panhandler Demanding Payment for Public Parking

The following information was supplied by the Boston Police Department. Charges listed do not indicate convictions.

Boston Police Officers were on patrol in the North End when they recognized a suspect at 12:46 p.m. on March 19. 

Officers received a report of a man aggressively panhandling in the Hanover Street area. The man was reportedly tried to charge drivers for parking spots on public streets.

Officers approached the man and asked for his identification. After a background check, officers found that there was a warrant out for the suspect out of Boston Municipal Court.

Officers arrested Steven King, a homeless man living at the Long Island Shelter and charged him on the strength of the warrant.
