North End Voter Supports Obama

Outside the Nazzaro Community Center polling location, North End woman explains reasoning behind her choice for president.

Mary McBride's husband had to rush away from the polling location at the Nazzaro Community Center after casting his vote.

His wife, however, stayed behind a few minutes -- while he got their car -- and spoke about her choices in this election.

A resident of the North End for 19 years, Mary is concerned about women's rights and social issues as well as the economy.

"I hope Obama wins because I want a president who cares about the poor, the working-class poor and health," she said. "Every parent should have the right to take their sick children to the hospital to be treated."

Mary has been pleased with Obama's presidency for the past four years.

And she supports Democratic ideology.

"The Democratic Party seems to respect the dignity of working people," she said. "That's extremely important to me."
