Police: Under Aged Bar Patron Struck Man Filming Dance Floor

An underage bar patron was charged with assault and battery, malicious destruction of property and document fraud when she allegedly struck another patron who was filming in the bar. 

Officers responded to a report of a female attacking a male at Hurricane O’Reilly’s at 12:24 a.m. on Sunday, April 7.

Officers spoke with the victim, who said that he was video taping patrons on the dance floor with his cellphone when the suspect walked over to him and struck him with an open hand, striking the camera, causing it to hit his head then fall to the ground and break.

Officers observed a small abrasion on the victim’s head. The victim denied medical treatment, but wanted to press charges on the suspect for breaking his phone, which was rendered inoperable.

The officer spoke to a security guard, who said that he observed the victim filming the crowd for several minutes prior to the suspect noticing and attacking the victim.

The officer spoke to the suspect, who was reportedly unsteady on her feet and slurring her speech. The suspect stated that she was dancing on the dance floor when she noticed the victim and that she hit the victim because she was certain that he was filming her specifically.

Officers obtained the suspect’s ID and saw that it was a New York Learner’s Permit, which stated “Under 21." 

Officers arrested Jasmine Burwell of 400 Fenway and charged her with malicious destruction of property over $250 and assault, battery with injuries and document fraud when officers discovered that the suspect was in possession of another person’s license.
