Police: Woman at TD Garden Dumped Drink on Fan, Head-Butted Cop

Officers working a paid detail at the TD Garden at 100 Legends Way were alerted by persons sitting in Section 20 of a person who kept spilling drinks on them and bumping into them.
A patron informed officers of a woman in a blue shirt holding a tall beverage. The officer asked the woman to come with them. The woman reportedly shook her head and then stood up and poured her drink on the people seated in front of her. The woman then reportedly shoved the officer and had to be restrained before being placed in handcuffs.
Officers moved the suspect into the corridor. At this time, the officers took the victim to the First Aid station to wash alcohol out of their eye. The victim stated that they wanted to return to the performance and not press any charges or file a report.

The officer told the suspect that they would rather escort her out of the building and send her home, rather than arrest her. Officers asked how the suspect was getting home. The suspect said that she had driven there. Officers told the suspect to contact a friend to come get her.
At this point, the suspect began screaming and reportedly attempted to smash her face against the wall. Officers restrained the suspect. The suspect began kicking and reportedly thrashing towards the officers and the person assisting her down the stairs. When she would not comply with officers, who asked her to stop, the suspect had to be carried down the stairs. The suspect was carried down a flight of stairs before she agreed to walk.

When the suspect was taken outside, an officer had her sit on the concrete wall to wait for her ride out of the area. At this point, the suspect reportedly head-butted the officer in his chest. The officer took the suspect to the ground, where the suspect continued to kick out towards the officer. Officers reportedly had to remove the suspect’s shoes for their safety.
Renee Leary of 40 Hooker Avenue, Somerville, MA, was arrested and charged with disturbing a public assembly, assault and battery, two counts of assault and battery on a public employee, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
