Snow Causing Problem for Water Readings

From the North Reading Water Department:

Due to the extraordinary amount of snow we have received, the North Reading Water Department has been unable to access the water meter reading registers located on the outside of many homes and businesses in North Reading.

While a limited number of homes are equipped with radio-reading devices, the majority of homes and businesses in North Reading must still be read by plugging into the register on the outside of the house.

The Water Department will be estimating water usage for this quarterly bill for those homes and businesses the Water Department has not been able to access this quarter. The water use for this winter quarter (November to February) from last year will be used to estimate the water use for this current quarter.

Click here to view a sample of the new combined Water and Trash bills. The Read Code on your bill will say ACTUAL READ if the Water Department was able to read your water meter, and will say ESTIMATED READ or MANUAL READ for those accounts that have been estimated.
