Most of Eastern Massachusetts is predicted to get 10 to 14 inches of snow. Snow is expected to start on Saturday afternoon and continue into Saturday night. Winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts of up to 60 mph are expected. Wind chills are expected to fall to 25 below zero.
“Travel will become nearly impossible and potentially life-threatening due to white-out conditions and bitterly cold wind chills. Conditions will remain dangerous for travel well into Sunday due to blowing and drifting show. Reduced visibility and dangerously cold wind chills. Power outages can be expected at some locations due to very strong winds,” warned the NWS.
This storm may not produce the amount of snow that we’ve seen from other storms in the past three weeks, but this latest storm will likely exasperate snow-related problems.
Only halfway through February, this month is already the snowiest February on record in Boston. A foot of snow would break the snowiest month in Boston on record.
