We knew that Brookline would be a difficult match up for us. We simply do not have the experience playing tennis that they do. Considering that, I think we had a respectable showing against them. It was difficult to win games, but, at least, we made them earn their games. Owen's match was particularly challenging as he faced one of the top players in the league.
The second doubles match was the only match that became truly competitive. Ben and Jason were at 2-2 in the first set before losing the remainder of games in that set. However, they continued to battle into the second set, earning a 4-3 lead. The set went down to the wire as they were edged out 5-7. Although Ben and Jason lost the set it was a good accomplishment for us considering Brookline was not holding anything back.
We are at the beginning of another string of very big matches for us. The next two weeks we will face Dedham, Braintree, Foxboro, Natick, and Weymouth. These are all matches that we anticipate will be competitive. We will try to stay focused from match to match and not take anything for granted in terms of our recent success.
