Norfolk DA Awards Norwood HS 'Prom Sense' Grant
Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey awarded Norwood a $250 "Project Prom Sense" grant this week.

Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey recently stopped by the April school safety forum held at the Coakley Middle School to drop off a $250 “Project Prom Sense” grant.
This is the second year Morrissey has given Norwood the award, helping fund the food and supplies for the post-prom event organized to keep high-schoolers safe on the night of the dance.
“We know that providing prom-goers with alcohol and drug-free post-prom events cuts into the pressure to drink that night, and increases the odds that students will avoid taking chances on the road or elsewhere,” Morrissey said. “I am pleased to support Norwood’s commitment to making this a safe night again this year.”

The money for both awards was drawn from monies forfeited by drug dealers and dedicated to crime and harm prevention, Morrissey's office said.
Detective Paul Ryan and eight others from the Norwood Police and Norwood Schools also participated in the Underage Drinking Prevention Conference Morrissey hosted in Wrentham in September.

“The Town of Norwood should be commended for how aggressively it is pursuing resources to keep its students safe – in and out of school,” Morrissey said. “I urge parents to encourage their teens to take part in this safe event.”
