Norwood Police Log: Fires, Juvenile Arrest, Larceny

Friday, April 13

9:14 a.m. - As a result of a motor vehicle stop at Dean St. and Windsor Rd., police arrested Douglas Rettich Dacosta, of Norwood, for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and possession of a class D drug. He was also held on an immigration detainer.

9:52 a.m. - A female juvenile was arrested at Coakley Middle School for larceny of a cell phone and possession of a class D drug. Police filed a report.

1:05 p.m. - Officer reported a motor vehicle accident at Hampton Inn on Boston-Providence Highway. Two vehicles towed from the scene, police filed a report.

2:44 p.m. - Caller reported a large group of kids on the train tracks near Norwood Central MBTA station. Officers stated parties gone on arrival.

4:12 p.m. - Caller reported a female jumped into traffic on Boston-Providence Highway. Party was not struck by any vehicle, NFD and several units responded. Police filed a report.

8:18 p.m. - Walk-in reported vehicle window broken in the lot, police filed a report.

Saturday, April 14

10:58 a.m. - Caller at McDonald's on Everett St. reported inappropriate pictures on a public use computer. Officer responded and spoke to manager, system will be shut down until filter or parental control can be installed.

12:04 p.m. - Caller reported gas leak at Citgo on Broadway. NFD responded and notified National Grid.

12:17 p.m. - Caller reported trash can on fire at Washington and Vernon streets. NFD handled the call.

4:35 p.m. - Caller reported male and female in the municipal lot on Cottage St. looking under vehicles, acting as if under the influence of something. A BOLO was issued to police cars.

7:11 p.m. - Caller reported hit and run on Tremont St. Police will file a report.

10:55 p.m. - Caller on Katie's Way reported yelling in front of her house. Multiple units responded, no fight occurred.

Sunday, April 15

7:42 a.m. - Caller on mill Pond Ln. reported power outage due to a transformer break. NFD and ELD responded.

8:57 a.m. - Caller reported heavy smoke outside on Ellis Ave. NFD handled a rear deck fire that started from a cigarette.

1:01 p.m. - Officer reported motor vehicle accident on Central St. Two vehicles towed from the scene, police filed a report.

4:01 p.m. - Resident on Elliot St. reported neighbor there reporting domestic. As a result, officers arrested Richard R. Blaquere, of West Roxbury, on several warrants as well as assault and battery.

6:01 p.m. - Caller reported fire on Centennial Dr. NFD handled stove fire, officers also issued a drug citation. Police filed a report.

8:48 p.m. - Caller reported male and female fighting in the street at Washington St. and Railroad Ave. Male got into a car. Officers arrested David A. Smith, of Norwood, for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

10:59 p.m. - Caller on Chapel St. reported child's iPod stolen from room. Police filed a report.

Monday, April 16

10:38 a.m. - UPS driver on Sturtevant Ave. reported he made a delivery and upon returning to his truck, wallet was missing. Police filed a report.

10:48 a.m. - Caller reported three people just took phone from truck. Police filed a report.

12:47 p.m. - Walk-in to the department from Pleasant St. reported landlord just attacked her. Police filed a report.

5:27 p.m. - Police arrested one juvenile male for larceny from Terra de Gente on Washington St.
