Norwood Student to Perform in Rivers School Seminar

Celeste McGinty, a cello player from Norwood, will be one of the event's featured 133 students.

The Rivers School Conservatory in Weston will host its 34th Annual Seminar on Contemporary Music for the Young this coming weekend, featuring a Norwood cellist.

Celeste McGinty, of Norwood, will be one of the event's featured 133 students. There will be six concerts, including solo, chamber, choral, and orchestral music. All featured music has been composed within the last 25 years. More than 40 of these students will perform 12 commissioned premieres.

Students performing commissioned premieres have been coached by professional Boston-based composers. The concerts will take place Saturday and Sunday, April 28-29, from 1:00-6:00 p.m. A 1:00 p.m. concert on Saturday will be fully devoted to student composition premieres.

Tickets are $10 per day for adults. Children and students attend for free.
