Eleanor Cecelia Burns of Westwood, former longtime resident of Norwood, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2012. Beloved wife of the late Thomas P. Burns; loving mother of Thomas P. Burns, Jr. and his wife the late Judith of Leominster, Kathleen Burns and her husband Paul Mercure of Milford, Roberta Nemeskal and her husband the late Francis of Newburyport, Ruth Wright and her husband William of Mifflin, PA, Maryellen Riley and her husband William of Westwood, and Eleanor Spear of Clarendon, VT. Cherished grandmother of Amy, Katie, Michelle, Hank, Thomas, Keith, Jacob, John, Devin, Jennifer, Lucas, Billy, Chrissy, Suzy, Katherine, Andrea, Chelsea, and Jeff; proud great-grandmother of sixteen great-grandchildren; devoted sister of Dorothy Faulkner of Norwood, Ruth Walsh of Norwood, and the late John C. Burns, Mary Lynch, Francis Burns, Paul Burns, and Robert Burns. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family will received visitors on Friday, April 20 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Gillooly funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Eleanor's family requests that you honor her caring physician, Hasan Bazari, MD, by contributing to the MGH Renal Associates Gift Fund, c/o Development Office, 165 Cambridge Street, Suite 600, Boston, MA 02114-2792, in memory of Eleanor C. Burns.
