Public Meetings on the MBTA Fare Increase Proposals [POLL]
As of right now there is no meeting in the Norwood area, but the fare increases would mean an over 40 percent increase in cost to local commuters.

The MBTA scheduled 28 public meetings on the proposed fare hikes and service changes designed to battle the $161 million deficit.
More than 400 people turned out for Monday's Boston public hearing. The meeting closest to Norwood is happening in Brockton on Tuesday, Mar. 6.
For local commuters, the hike scenario could mean a 42.9 percent individual fare increase and a 46.3 percent increase in monthly pass prices. This means an extra cost of $852 per year for those commuting into Boston from Norwood train stations.

Both proposals also would cut Commuter Rail service after 10:00 p.m. and on weekends.
Nearby communities have issued requests for the MBTA to hold another meeting more locally, but if that doesn't happen, will Norwood and other local commuters travel to make their voices heard?
