Red Flag Warning Issued for Monday

The weather conditions in the area could make any fire that develops spread quickly, the National Weather Service warns.

A red flag warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for Norwood and most of Southern New England Monday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

According to the NWS: "A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combintaion of strong winds and low relative humidity will create an elevated fire spread potential."

The forecast calls for westerly winds at 15 to 25 miles per hour, with gusts up to 40 miles per hour, with the strongest winds late in the afternoon. Humidity for the Norwood area will be at 30 to 35 percent.

"State Fire Weather Managers have informed us that any fires that develop Monday will have the potential to spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended," the NWS warning reads.
