Teams will now practice and play games at the new state-of-the-art skating facility on University Ave

The Skating Club of Boston, New England’s premier skating training facility, announced today a new partnership with the Norwood Nuggets Youth Hockey organization that will give teams access to ice and skating skills training in the all-new facility on University Ave. that officially opened last year.
As part of the partnership, teams and their families are invited to an open house on Thursday, September 1st to get tours of The Skating Club of Boston and to take to the ice for the first time. Practices and games will soon follow. Team skaters are already participating in group power skating and edge classes taught by Team USA figure skaters who train at The Skating Club of Boston.
“We’re excited to host the Norwood Nuggets in our facility and looking forward to this new partnership that will further connect us with the Norwood community,” said Doug Zeghibe, Executive Director, The Skating Club of Boston. “We want to thank the leadership of the Norwood Nuggets who reached out to us, and the Norwood Board of Selectman for their ongoing support of the Club and this partnership with the Nuggets’ organization.”

"Norwood Nuggets Youth Hockey is excited to kick off its 60th anniversary this season and we can't think of a better way to celebrate this milestone than skating in the Town of Norwood," said Walter Corcoran, President of Norwood Nuggets Youth Hockey. "Sixty years ago, the Nuggets held its first practice at The Skating Club of Boston in Brighton, and we've come full circle by giving the kids the opportunity to practice and play home games in a world-class facility in their hometown. We appreciate the willingness of The Skating Club of Boston officials to meet with our representatives, and all of their efforts to finalize our new partnership. We look forward to the future and all of the opportunities this partnership will afford to the kids and families in our program."
“The Norwood Board of Selectmen are delighted that the Skating Club of Boston and Norwood Nuggets Youth Hockey have reached an agreement that gives our young hockey players the ability to practice, play games, and hone their skating skills at a modern local facility,” said Selectmen Chairman William Plasko. “Our board could not be more thrilled that the two organizations were able to come to this agreement. Along with the Norwood High hockey teams use of the facility, and the other public skating opportunities for Norwood residents, this completes our original goal of using the Town’s Payment in Lieu of Taxes Agreement with The Skating Club of Boston to provide these benefits to our residents. The kids finally will have the unique status, pride, and thrill of skating on home ice at The Skating Club of Boston’s Norwood facility.”
