Challenger Bows Out Of Peabody Mayor's Race
Mayor Ted Bettencourt will run unopposed for a fifth term after his opponent withdrew for medical reasons.

PEABODY, MA — A 53-year-old woman who decided to challenge Peabody Mayor Ted Bettencourt after the city seized her father's home for nonpayment of taxes withdrew from the race. Jacqueline Conway told the Daily Item she dropped out of the race because of health problems."It's a long story, but my back has been getting worse and worse and worse and I just can’t handle a campaign," Conway told the newspaper.
Conway collects disability because of the injury. She was previously a kindergarten teacher's aide. This was her first run for collected office and her campaign did not raise any funds, the newspaper said.
