Hearing Delayed For Man Accused Of Killing Peabody Girl

Selvin Manuel Lima, 23, of Lawrence, remains hospitalized and will continue to be held without bail.

PEABODY, MA —A dangerousness hearing for a Lawrence man that had been scheduled for Wednesday was rescheduled for Aug. 8. Selvin Manuel Lima, 23, of Lawrence, remains hospitalized from injuries sustained in a car crash when he fled police Saturday night. Lima faces multiple charges, including manslaughter in the death of 11-year-old Taysha Rohena Silva of Peabody.

Lima was arraigned Monday in the intensive care unit at Brigham & Women's Hospital. Prosecutors say Lima was fleeing from police after an attempted traffic stop when he lost control of his car and crashed. Lawrence Police did not pursue Lima when he fled during the traffic stop, according to court documents.

Silva was killed in the crash at Andover Street and Winthrop Avenue around 6 p.m. Saturday. Her 29-year-old mother, eight-year-old sister, 15-year-old cousin and her mother's 27-year-old boyfriend were all hospitalized with serious injuries.
