Man Charged In Peabody 5-Year-Old Child's Strangulation Found In Maine: U.S. Marshals

The U.S. Marshals Service said Dominque Bailey is accused of attempting to strangle the child before stealing the mother's vehicle.

PEABODY, MA — A man charged with strangling a 5-year-old child in Peabody and fleeing to Maine with that child's mother's stolen vehicle was found and arrested in Lewiston, Maine, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

The U.S. Marshals said Dominique Bailey was wanted on multiple warrants out of Massachusetts for assault and battery on a family member and strangulation or suffocation.

The U.S. Marshals said the stolen vehicle was recovered by the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department several weeks ago, and, thus, the suspect was believed to be staying with people he knew in Maine. He was on state probation in Maine for robbery and was also charged with a state probation violation.

The U.S. Marshals Service said USMS Task Force members "made a forced entry" into the Lewiston home on Wednesday and took Bailey into custody.

“This arrest highlights the strength of coordinated law enforcement," Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Josh Taylor said. "When federal, state, and local agencies unite, as we did with our partners in Massachusetts and Maine, we send a clear message that there is no safe haven for violent fugitives."
