North Shore Pop-Tab Campaign Collections Donated To Ronald McDonald House Charities
State Rep. Thomas Walsh's summer campaign celebrated a fourth year of collecting tabs to be recycled with funds to benefit the charity.
PEABODY, MA — Donations from the fourth annual aluminum pop-tab and household goods collection drive on the North Shore were recently delivered to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, with contributions going toward allowing families to be near children as they receive medical care at prestigious New England hospitals.
State Rep. Thomas Walsh (D-Peabody) organized the drive that drew tens of thousands of donations over the course of the summer months. The aluminum tabs are recycled, with the scrap value going toward Ronald McDonald House programming.
"I am overjoyed by the compassion and the attentiveness of the Ronald McDonald House as they provide normalcy for these families," said Rep. Walsh. "For four years now, residents of the North Shore have generously supported families in need by collecting and donating their can tabs and purchasing needed household goods through this drive."

"Representative Walsh and the Peabody community have been steadfast supporters through their collection of pop tabs and much-needed Wish List items here at the Ronald McDonald House and we are forever grateful," RMHC-NE CEO Lauren Hoops-Schmieg said. "Pop tabs are small but mighty as collectively they make a tremendous impact on the families who call RMHCNE 'home' while their child receives medical care.

"The money raised from recyclable aluminum tabs are essential to our family-centered care programs and allows us to keep families close to their children being treated in our local hospitals."
Ronald McDonald Charities also maintains an ongoing Amazon Wish List for family needs, where supporters can purchase items and ship them directly to the charity.
