Peabody 'Mad Grannies' Raise Nearly $10K Amid SNAP Benefit Suspension For Food-Insecure

The Brooksby Village residents donated the funds raised to Citizens Inn Haven From Hunger.

PEABODY, MA — A group of Brooksby Village residents calling themselves the "Mad Grannies" came together to raise nearly $10,000 for the food-insecure on the North Shore amid the SNAP benefit suspension this fall.

The residents worked to raise the money to benefit residents of Peabody, Salem and Lynnfield who rely on Citizens Inn Haven From Hunger for food assistance.

The Mad Grannies said the fundraising effort was made possible through the generous spirit of Brooksby residents and the enthusiastic leadership of the Mad Grannies, who hosted welcoming donation tables in each clubhouse every Friday throughout December.
