Peabody Launches Food-Resource Website Amid SNAP Benefit Freeze
The site offers information on North Shore food pantries, free meal calendars and state food-assistance programs.

PEABODY, MA — The city of Peabody has launched a new food-assistance resource page for residents who are experiencing a loss of federal SNAP benefits amid the government shutdown.
The page, which can be found on the city's website, includes information on local food pantries, free meals across the North Shore, the Council on Aging for senior resources, and statewide food-assistance programs such as WIC and the Project Bread Food Source helpline.
"Peabody is fortunate to have a number of resources and strong partnerships to ensure our residents can access the food and nutrition they need," Mayor Ted Bettencourt said. "With the uncertainties around SNAP benefits and the ongoing federal government shutdown, we anticipate that demand will increase significantly."
