Peabody Man Accused Of Sexually Abusing Danvers Girl
John Garofalo, 69, of 15 Norfolk Avenue in Peabody, is free on $25,000 bail after pleading not guilty to charges.
PEABODY, MA — Prosecutors say a Peabody man repeatedly sexually abused an eight-year-old Danvers girl while he babysat her in her home. John Garofalo, 69, of 15 Norfolk Avenue in Peabody, is free on $25,000 bail after pleading not guilty to two charges of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14. Danvers police arrested Garofolo on Friday.
According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, the girl's mother went to police last month after walking in on Garofolo inappropriately touching the girl while on a trip to New Hampshire. Prosecutors said Garofolo is not related to the victim but played a grandfather-like role to her.
