Ted Bettencourt Re-Elected To 8th Term As Peabody Mayor, 3 New City Councilors

PEABODY, MA — Peabody Mayor Ted Bettencourt was elected to an eighth term on Tuesday as he survived a challenge from small business owner Rochelle Agneta for the second consecutive election cycle.

According to unofficial results as of 9 p.m., Bettencourt had 6,497 votes to 1,510 for Agneta, with all 19 precincts reporting.

There were also several City Council and School Committee races on the ballot, including a crowded field of nine candidates for five At-Large City Council seats.

Incumbents Jon Turco, Anne Manning-Martin and Thomas Rossignoll won re-election to At-Large seats, with the other two spots going to School Committee member Jarrod Hochman and Jaclyn Corriveau.

There were three contested City Council races with Wendy Latoff topping Michael Troisi for the open Ward 2 seat, Stephanie Peach fending off a challenge from Neil Papamechail in Ward 3, and Michael Higgins besting Ryan Cox in Ward 6.

There were five candidates for three spots on the School Committee with incumbent Beverley Anne Griffin Dunne topping the field, while Suzanne Cox and Pamela Milman earned the other two seats.
