Residents Are Enjoying Stylish Upgrades at Mcintosh Clubhouse
As a Resident Advisory Council member, Jean Jones provided input on the renovations at McIntosh Clubhouse on behalf of her neighbors

The McIntosh Clubhouse at Brooksby Village, an Erickson Senior Living community in Peabody, Mass., is putting the finishing touches on a brand-new look!
Over the last four years, Brooksby has unveiled substantial upgrades throughout campus, including a refresh of all three clubhouses.

"First up was Town Center, including the addition of the Tannery boutique eatery and a refresh of the Windsor restaurant," says Executive Director Tracie Bettano. "Next was the Kingsbury Clubhouse, with a chic new look and upgrades to the Cider House and Harvest restaurants. And now the McIntosh Clubhouse, which is nearing completion."
The two-story addition to McIntosh Clubhouse will soon bring a flexible classroom space and a new, fast-casual restaurant to the community, among other amenities.

"Seeing the newly renovated areas is exciting!" says resident Jean Jones, who moved to Brooksby with her husband Ken from nearby Wenham, Mass., in 2020.
Taste of the good life
Northfields, the new restaurant in McIntosh Clubhouse, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner options and boasts easy access to an outdoor patio.
"Having outdoor seating for drinks and chats is wonderful," says Jean.
"Now, residents have seven restaurants to choose from," adds Bettano. "The variety of made-to-order meals and social atmosphere our restaurants offer are a real draw."
Upstairs the flagship Overlook restaurant has been transformed into a more intimate dining venue with banquettes that divide the room into cozy sections.
"When the entrance for the renovated Overlook restaurant was unveiled, I loved seeing the new colors for the walls and carpeting," Jean says.
So, what's new?
The new flexible classroom has become a popular gathering space for the dozens of resident-led groups and clubs that meet on a regular basis. And the new fireplace in the lobby serves as a warm, comfortable gathering spot for friends and family.
Existing first-floor amenities in the McIntosh Clubhouse, including the chapel, have also received upgrades.
"New audiovisual systems, including a 'hearing loop' system to support assistive listening devices, were installed in the chapel," explains Bettano.
Upstairs, outdoor space was added with the clubhouse's extension.
Existing second-floor amenities, including the creative arts studio, TV studio, and multipurpose classroom, were refreshed. And the lounge, transformed into a lively recreation room for cards, games, and billiards, has been quite popular.
Lastly, new decor, paint, and flooring have been added throughout the McIntosh Clubhouse, creating a fresh, modern feel.
During the project's planning process, members of Brooksby's Resident Advisory Council were invited to share their thoughts, speaking on behalf of themselves as well as their friends and neighbors.
Invaluable input
"The Resident Advisory Council provides a resident's perspective," says Jean, one of three members to provide input. "Frequently, we three members shared opinions from residents."
As a result, the clubhouse's new and upgraded amenities have become bustling hubs of activity, providing even more opportunities for residents to catch up with neighbors and meet new people.
"Resident input plays a big role in the process, and feedback has been very positive," notes Bettano. "It warms my heart when a resident says, 'I brought my family to the new restaurant. I couldn't wait to show it off!'"
Investing in the future
For Bettano, the clubhouse's renovations have a deeper meaning.
Since starting her career with Brooksby in 2004, she has witnessed numerous significant changes, all of which have brought positive energy to the already vibrant community.
"Everything illustrates our investment in ensuring residents enjoy an active, carefree lifestyle in retirement," she says. "By incorporating resident input, we're able to support the needs and wants of current and future residents."
However, with the community on pace to sell out, joining the Priority List is of utmost importance.
"That's the best way to secure your spot in line for a residence at Brooksby," explains Sales Director Gina Fernandez.
"This is an exciting time! If you're interested in joining the community and taking advantage of these new amenities, this is your chance."
