Rotary Club Of Peabody Awards 9 Scholarships To High School Seniors
The Rotary Club of Peabody awarded $16,500 in scholarships to nine Peabody students graduating from area high schools.
The Rotary Club of Peabody awarded $16,500 in scholarships to 9 Peabody students graduating from area high schools, to support their career or higher education plans. While the active club is widely known for its volunteer work and financial support of dozens of charities, scholarships are the club’s main area of charitable focus.
“The Club believes supporting the future of Peabody’s youth is one of the best investments we can make,” said Scholarship Committee Chair and incoming co-President Curt Bellavance.
The three categories of scholarships and winners are as follows:

The Mel Babner ‘Service Above Self’ Scholarship is awarded to an unlimited number of students who exemplify this Rotary Motto. It is named in honor of Mel, who passed away recently and was the club’s longest-serving Rotarian. The six winners are Kate Bresnahan, Ava Buckley, Leah Buckley, Keira Howland, Rosalie Tavernese, Aidan Walsh and Michael Waugh.
The Career and Technical Education Scholarship is awarded to one student pursuing a trade after graduation. This year’s winner is Gregorio Burgos, Jr.

The Sam Berns Scholarship is given to one student who has overcome obstacles and otherwise exemplifies the qualities Sam practiced daily, as set forth in his wildly popular TEDx talk, “My Philosophy for a Happy Life”. Anthony Silva is the 2025 recipient.
The Rotary Club of Peabody is a fun and welcoming group! They extend an open invitation to anyone interested in learning more and considering joining. Meetings are held every Thursday at 7:30 AM at Red’s on Route 1 northbound.
