3-Year-Old Pulled From Plymouth Pond And Flown To Hospital

PLYMOUTH, MA — A toddler was airlifted to Boston Children's Hospital after his face went underwater at Black Jimmy Pond pond in Plymouth Thursday night.

Plymouth Fire Chief G. Edward Bradley says the 3-year-old was with a group of people attending Family Night at the YMCA's Camp Clark on Hedges Pond Road when they went into the water.

Bradley said the child had a life vest on, and barely went into the water, but was suddenly unconscious.

An off-duty Plymouth firefighter, an off-duty police officer, and two off-duty nurses were all attending family night and rushed to get the child to safety.

The child was responsive but showed signs of troubled breathing before being taken to Beth Israel Deaconness in Plymouth where they were then transported to Boston Children's Hospital.

“I applaud the quick thinking of the highly trained first responders who were on scene at the time of this incident, and our collective thoughts and prayers go out to the child’s family,” Chief Bradley said.

The incident remains under investigation and there is no update on the child's state.
