📰 News we're reading

1. Case of man who allegedly posed as town manager to go forward (plymouthindependent.org) — A Plymouth District Court judge has refused to dismiss identity fraud charges against a federal officer accused of emailing Plymouth police while posing as Town Manager Derek Brindisi. Investigators traced the message, about vehicles decorated with Christmas lights, to a Customs and Border Protection workstation, and the defendant now faces a January 15 court date and possible jail time if convicted.

2. Driver in alleged North Plymouth hit-and-run turns himself in (plymouthindependent.org) — A North Plymouth pedestrian remains in stable condition after being struck in a Court Street crosswalk, with police saying the driver briefly stopped before leaving the scene. Tips and surveillance video helped Plymouth police identify Francis Kelly of Plymouth, who later turned himself in and now faces misdemeanor charges and a clerk’s hearing in Plymouth District Court.

3. No surprise: Pinehills deals topped November homes sales (plymouthindependent.org) — Plymouth’s November home sales show Pinehills once again dominating the high end, reinforcing its outsized role in stabilizing the town’s tax base. Overall sales slowed and homes are sitting on the market longer, but demand and prices in many desirable Plymouth neighborhoods remain strong, with dozens of properties still selling at or above asking price.

4. ‘Buddy the Beefalo' dies 5 years after capturing hearts by escaping slaughterhouse (wtnh.com) — Many Plymouth residents will remember Buddy the Beefalo, who spent eight months roaming local woods after escaping a trailer at Plymouth Meats in 2020. The beloved animal, later relocated to a Florida sanctuary after his safe capture by Plymouth police and neighbors, has now died peacefully after several calm, well-cared-for years.

5. Obituary: Donna Marie Fabrizio (hinghamanchor.com) — Plymouth readers may note that Donna Fabrizio’s late brother, John Valorz, lived in Plymouth, while Donna herself spent her long, active life in Hingham, Weymouth, and on Cape Cod. She is remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and great‑grandmother who loved camping, travel, games, and the Patriots. Her family requests memorial donations to the Pat Roche Hospice Home in lieu of services.
