Accused Plymouth Home Invaders To Remain Jailed

Barnstable police said five people organized an intricate home invasion in Hyannis by pretending to be police and planting someone inside.

BARNSTABLE, MA — Five people — inlcuding three Plymouth men — accused of organizing an intricate home invasion in Hyannis last month will remain jailed for at least the next few months. Police said the home invasion happened March 19 on General Patton Drive.

"The assailants entered the home and announced 'Barnstable Police,'" Barnstable police said in a statement. "They brandished firearms and assaulted several of the occupants ... The suspects then fled in a black SUV which was intercepted by responding officers."

The accused assailants found in the vehicle were identified as Derek Burden, Vedel Haynes and Dayshaun Tatum, all of Plymouth; and Dehkwon Marshall-Rabb, of Barnstable. Also arrested was Jennifer Schaaf, of Hyannis. Police said she was in the residence at the time of the robbery and pretended to be a victim.

"It was later revealed that she participated in the planning of the event," police said.

The five individuals were charged with armed home invasion, armed robbery and conspiracy. Tatum was also charged with assault with a gun.

Last week during a dangerousness hearing in Barnstable District Court, a judge ordered Burden, Haynes, Tatum and Marshall-Rabb held in custody for 120 days. Schaaf was also held in custody and will serve a year for a probation violation, police said.

Police said they seized a .38-caliber handgun, replica 9mm handgun, ammunition, masks, gloves, handcuffs and items stolen at the General Patton Drive residence from the group's vehicle, police said.
