DUI Checkpoint New Year's Eve In Plymouth County
Massachusetts State Police will conduct drunk-driving checkpoints Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

Massachusetts State Police will conduct a drunk-driving checkpoint somewhere in Plymouth County ahead of New Year's. The roadblock will be held the night of Saturday, December 30, and stretch into the early hours of Sunday — which is New Year's Eve. The exact location and time frame of the checkpoint were not divulged, per usual state police policy.
"The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public's awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," State Police Colonel Kerry Gilpin said in a statement. "It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety."
The effort is funded with state grant money.
