With hundreds of people lining Plymouth Long Beach, it looked like a normal summer's day:
Except for the strange costumes, and the winter coats, and the cheering, and the fact that it was March 2 rather than July.

Saturday marked the 11th annual Jordan's Polar Plunge to raise money for Jordan Hospital's Cancer Center. More than 500 people took the plunge while hundreds more cheered them on from the beach and the seawall.
A horn blast called the charge at noon and the masses ran into the ocean. Some dove under the waves, others hit the first wave, squealed and ran back to shore, but the brave ones dove in and swam around a bit before making their way back to shore and warm towels, any exposed skin bright red from the cold.
The costumed and colorful teams raised $70,000 for the Cancer Center, short of the $100,000 goal, but there is still time to donate to plunge participants.
After the plunge, awards and T-shirts were handed out at the Plymouth Yacht Club. Individual award winners will be listed soon. Awards were given in a variety of catagories from most money raised by an individual to the best family costume, youngest plunger, the old salt award, and the "What were you thinking award." There seemed to be stiff competition for the final award (watch the video).
