"Many times, it appeared someone may have struck a rock and continued on," police wrote in the news release. In other cases, "the vehicles' undercarriages were being ripped out, causing fluid spills, disabling vehicles and even causing airbag deployments," according to police.

At around 10 p.m. Monday, "a detective in full camouflage positioned himself in the woods in the pouring rain where he planned to remain during the overnight hours with a line of sight on the area of interest," according to police. Two hours later, police said they spotted a suspect placing a rock in the middle of the road before turning on to Reed Street.

Minutes later, police said they confronted the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Cameron Currier, on his front porch and quickly identified inconsistencies in his story.

Currier was arrested and is being held on "a significant bail amount," according to police. His arraignment at Plymouth District Count was scheduled for Tuesday morning.

Currier is facing the following charges:

  • 11 counts of Malicious Damage to a Motor Vehicle (One count for each known vehicle damaged)
  • 9 counts of Attempt to Commit Crime: Malicious Damage to a Motor Vehicle (One count for each time a rock was found on the roadway, with no known victim vehicles)

Police are urging that anyone that hit a rock in the roadway of Route 27 in the vicinity of Reed Street from February 2023 until today call Detective Lieutenant Michael Skowyra at 781-585-0523, extension 6662.
