Chief G. Edward Bradley, on behalf of the Plymouth Fire Department, would like to remind community members of the town’s upcoming 9/11 Memorial Service in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

In observance of the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and in remembrance of those who lost their lives, the Town of Plymouth invites community members to attend its upcoming 9/11 Memorial Service.

The service will begin with a formation march with the Hollybriar Bagpipers beginning at Plymouth Fire Station #7, 15 Hedge Road. Following the march, the Honor Guard will assemble at Plymouth’s 9/11 Memorial on South Spooner Street. At the 9/11 Memorial site, there will be a ceremonial laying of a memorial wreath, singing of the national anthem and Pledge of Allegiance.

As is the tradition of the New York City Fire Department, Plymouth Firefighter Stefan Cyr will symbolically strike a ‘5-5-5-5′ alarm on a ceremonial bell to remember the first responders who died in the line of duty on Sept. 11, 2001.

Following the tolling of the ceremonial bell, a moment of silence will be observed to commemorate the time of the collapse of the World Trade Center’s South Tower and in tribute to all civilians, airline pilots and attendants, EMS, police and fire personnel, Port Authority workers, military and civilian workers at the Pentagon and all the families who lost loved ones in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. on Sept. 11, 2001.

The memorial service will also include a memorial prayer, remarks from local and state officials, police and firefighter prayers and a benediction.

The Town of Plymouth also remembers resident Jennifer Lynn Kane and her parents George and Faye Kane. Jennifer Kane grew up in West Plymouth and was 26 years old working on the 100th floor of the World Trade Center North Tower when hijackers crashed a passenger jet into the building on Sept. 11, 2001.

The Town also remembers William C. Hunt of Kingston who was a bond broker for Eurobrokers working in the South Tower at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
