Plymouth Fire To Hold 20th Anniversary Ceremony Of 9/11 Attacks

PLYMOUTH, MA — Fire Chief Edward Bradley on behalf of the Plymouth Fire Department, would like to invite community members to join town officials at the town's upcoming 9/11 Memorial Service in commemoration of the 20th anniversary.

The ceremony will be in observance of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and will take place on Saturday, September 11 starting at 9:30 a.m. at Plymouth's 9/11 Memorial, 1 South Spooner St.

A formation march will begin the service with the Hollybriar Bagpipers beginning at Plymouth Fire Station #7, located at 15 Hedge Road.

After the march, the Honor Guard will assemble at Plymouth's 9/11 Memorial on South Spooner Street. At the 9/11 Memorial site, there will be a ceremonial laying of a memorial wreath, singing of the national anthem, and Pledge of Allegiance.

Following the tradition of the New York City Fire Department, Plymouth Firefighter Stefan Cyr will symbolically strike a "5-5-5-5" alarm on a ceremonial bell to remember the first responders who died in the line of duty on Sept. 11, 2001.

The Town of Plymouth remembers resident Jennifer Lynn Kane and her parents, George and Faye Kane. Jennifer Kane grew up in West Plymouth and was 26 years old working on the 100th floor of the World Trade Center North Tower when hijackers crashed a passenger jet into the building on Sept. 11, 2001.

The Town also remembers William C. Hunt of Kingston who was a bond broker for Eurobrokers working in the South Tower at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

The memorial service will also include a memorial prayer, remarks from local and state officials, police and firefighter prayers, and a benediction.
