Plymouth Pilgrims Baseball Names Head Coach

Massasoit Community College assistant coach Greg Zackrison has been named head coach of the Plymouth Pilgrims, a new team in New England College Baseball League.

Massasoit Community College assistant coach Greg Zackrison has been named head coach of the Plymouth Pilgrims, a new team in New England College Baseball League, according to a press release from the school.

Zackrison has been an assistant baseball coach at Massasoit for the past 10 years. During his tenure, they have won four New England Regional titles and appeared in the three NJCAA World Series. During the past four summers he was the head coach for the Oneonta Outlaws in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League including the 2011 League Championship.

In 2007 and 2008, Greg coached in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Harwich Mariners. In 2008, Harwich won the Cape League title for the first time in 21 years. He has also coached more than 70 players selected in the Major League draft; 30 of those selected were in the first 12 rounds, including the second overall selection in 2009 Dustin Ackley.

The Pilgrims will play 45 games in 59 days during June, July and August, with 23 home games at Forges Field. Opening Night is June 7, at 6:30 p.m. at Forges Field.
