Protestors Call For Shutdown Of Plymouth ICE Facility
A vigil will be held at Pilgrim Memorial Park followed by a march and rally at Plymouth County Jail on Thursday, September 23.

PLYMOUTH, MA — Massachusetts residents will protest to demand the end of immigration detention at Plymouth County Jail, the release of those in detention, and an end to Trump-era immigration enforcement practices in Plymouth county on Thursday, September 23 due to a rain delay.
A march and a rally are set to help reinforce and intensify the county's demand to stop the collaboration with immigration enforcement practices.
Participants are calling for the release of people in ICE detention, rather than a transfer to another facility, and an end to the county's 287g contract with ICE.

The 287g program deputized local law enforcement officers to act as immigration agents, and in doing so, greatly increases the harassment and terrorization of immigrant communities, and studies have shown that it increases racial profiling by police by 900% to 1,000%.
The rally is organized by immigrant organizers and allies, including former detainees and family members of people currently in ICE detention: Never Again Action, the Boston Immigrant Justice Accompaniment Network (BIJAN), the AMOR network, the FANG Collective.

"Our call to action is to reunite families like my own who have suffered by the indiscriminate and inhumane practices and conditions of facilities like the Plymouth County Correction Facility," says Allison Andrade-Cullen. "My husband has been detained for over 2 years and has been transferred multiple times. Our children deserve to have their father home. Families deserve to be together. Cancel the contracts, free them all."
UPDATE: The rally will take place at 5:30 p.m. Thursday Sept. 23 at Plymouth Rock due to a rain delay, then a rally will happen at 7:30 p.m. at Plymouth County Jail.
