Two Plymouth Homes Catch Fire Over The Weekend
As a heatwave tears through Massachusetts, Plymouth firefighters stepped up their game - extinguishing two fires in a matter of days.

PLYMOUTH, MA — Two homes were destroyed in Plymouth over the weekend when two separate fires broke out Friday and Sunday.
Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at 6:35 a.m. Sunday at 9 Overlook Circle. They learned none of the people who lived in the home were there, but heavy flames had already spread.
The heat made it difficult for firefighters to put out the flames, and officials struck a second alarm to combat it. No injuries were reported, but the home was declared a total loss, firefighters said.

The home sustained significant damage and was a total loss. Plymouth Fire Department Chief Neil Foley estimated that approximately $725,000 in damage was done to the building and its contents.
"I want to acknowledge the great work by our firefighters who stepped up this weekend to safely extinguish these two fires in extreme heat conditions without any injuries or heat-related issues," Chief Foley said. "Throughout this heat wave, our members have worked extra shifts to ensure that those on shift have relief and their dedication and hard work has shown through, especially in these two incidents."

On Friday, fire crews responded to a home on Thompson Circle. The fire ripped through the home, but crews were able to put out the blaze in under a half hour. Despite their best efforts, the house was deemed uninhabitable due to the smoke damage.
No one was home at the time of that fire either, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of both fires remains under investigation.
