'Uncertainty Remains' for Storm Heading Toward Plymouth This Weekend

While some forecasts call for up to a foot of snow west and north of Boston this weekend Plymouth should only get about 2-4 inches according to the National Weather Service. Regardless, The NSW is warning residents to be aware of the approaching coastal storm.

"There is high probability for a strong coastal storm to impact Southern New Englan late Saturday into Sunday," the service wrote in a Hazardous Weather Outlook. "A lot of uncertainty remains given that the storm is still nearly 3 days in the future."

As of Thursday morning, the National Weather Service was predicting a chance of snow starting after 2 p.m. Saturday in Plymouth. A rain/snow mix is likely Saturday night, with it turning to all snow early Sunday morning. Snow and rain could continue through Sunday night.

The agency is currently only predicting an inch or so of snow for Braintree during the course of the storm, though WHDH meteorologist Pete Bouchard says the South Shore could see three to six inches, with the higher amounts closer to the water.

According to the NWS while the exact types of snow and snowfall amounts remain uncertain, there is the potential for heavy wet snow, as well as downed tree limbs, strong winds, and power outages. Finally, coastal flooding and beach erosion are possible with the highest risk during Sunday morning's high tide.
