Woman Rescued from Surf on White Horse Beach

A couple pulled a woman out of the surf at the Full Sail boat ramp at White Horse Beach Thursday night.

A Plymouth couple who went down to White Horse Beach to watch the waves got more than they bargained for when they pulled a Manomet woman from the water last night according to The Manomet Current.

At around 9 p.m., David Archibald and his girlfriend, Leah, were at the Full Sail boat ramp when they saw what he said they saw something in the waves.

That something was was a woman kneeling in the water.

The two tried to get a response from the woman, who fell over. While Archibald tried to dial 911, Leah ran out to help the woman, but the two were pulled into the surf, he said. Archibald went into the water, pulling out his girlfriend, who in turn got the woman out.

Archibald was able to flag down a passing car to assist, then made a 911 call from a nearby house. The couple stayed with the woman until an ambulance arrived.

Officials don’t know why the woman, 53, was in the water, Capt. John Rogers said. She was taken to Jordan Hospital, he said. Rogers believes the woman is “fine.” Leah also went to Jordan with a leg injury, according to Archibald.
